22nd Annual McDonald’s® “City-Suburban Showdown” Announced

Lisle, IL --- The Integrity Group Partners confirmed today that their nationally recognized McDonald’s “City-Suburban Showdown” Boys H.S. Basketball event, will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2017. The event moves to the beautiful Robert Morris University Athletic & Convocation Center at 2121 S. Goebbert Rd., in Arlington Heights.   As always, this event will present fans with the opportunity to see the best teams in the state, as all four are expected to appear in every pre-season Top-10 poll.

In Game 1 (6:00), it’s 4A Lincolnshire-Stevenson returning to the C-S Showdown to battle 3A power Chicago-Morgan Park.  The “Patriots” (24-7), the defending North Suburban Conference Champions, return several players and will feature Sr. Justin Smith (SF, 6-7), one of the Top-5 players in the state.  The “Mustangs” (26-4), were upset in the Joliet Central Super-Sectional, despite being favored to return for their fourth straight trip to Peoria.  They will be led by dynamic Jr. Ayo Dosunmu (PG, 6-3), who is arguably the top player in the state, regardless of class.

Game 2 (8:00), features a rematch of perhaps the top-2 teams as Evanston gets another shot at Chicago-Simeon Career Academy.  The “Wildkits” (23-6), defending Central Suburban South Champions, return virtually their entire team and are led by nationally ranked Sr. Nojel Eastern (PG, 6-5).  The “Wolverines” (29-4), defending CPL Champions and 4A 3rd Place finishers, return another group of talented D-1 prospects, and feature Sr. Evan Gilyard (PG, 5-9).  Will the return of Elyjah Williams (6-6, PF), and another year of experience, allow the Wildkits to even the score?

Fans expect to see some of the top talent in Illinois, if not the nation, and last season’s “Showdown” was no exception as two of the Top-3 teams in Class 4A, and #1 in Class 3A in the state --- according to the AP --- took the floor before a huge crowd at Lyons Township H.S.  In Game 1, the “Mustangs” from #1 (Class 3A) ranked Chicago-Morgan Park, survived the “Bulldogs” of Riverside-Brookfield by the score of 88-79.  With seconds to go in regulation, and R-B on the verge of an upset, Charlie Moore hit a “3” to send the game into overtime.  He would wind up with 31 pts and 7 assts. scoring 15 consecutive pts. in a stretch that spanned the final 1:30 of regulation and the first two minutes of OT.

Game 2 saw #1 ranked Chicago-Simeon Career Academy defeat #3 Evanston by the final score of 55-43, as they held “Wildkits” star Nojel Eastern to nine pts. on 3-19 shooting.  The scoring load was well balanced with Zach Norvell contributing 16 pts., and Josh Thomas adding 15.  The victory came one night after the “Wolverines” beat Morgan Park in the CPL Semi-Finals.  They would defeat Kenwood the next afternoon for the CPL Championship.

Complete information on tickets, which will be available at the schools on a “First Come, First Served” basis, will be announced at a later date.

The Integrity Group Partners previously announced the teams for its’ 20th Annual “H. S. Hoops Showdown” which will also be held at the RMU Athletic & Convocation Center in Arlington Heights, on Saturday, January 21, 2017.

In Game 1 (6:00), it’s a matchup between two 4A contenders who have never met previously as Chicago-Kenwood Academy takes on Downers Grove South.

Then, in Game 2 (8:00 tip), it’s two of the top pre-season teams in the state as 4A Chicago Heights-Marian Catholic collides with 3A power Oak Park-Fenwick.
